Good news everybody. The City of Orlando is creating an “off-street bike lane” on the east side of Bumby, from Rosedale to Corrine, which will be open in Spring 2017. This ten foot wide multipurpose asphalt path will be in the City’s right of way and will separate bicyclists, pedestrians and others from traffic by a streetscape.
I’ve reached out to the City’s Public Works, Green Works and Economic Development departments to see how APGD’s EcoDistrict Team can be involved in the selection of plants to be planted along this path. It is the perfect opportunity to create another pollinator pathway in our area and help further our efforts to become a National Wildlife Certified Wildlife Habitat Community.
Many thanks to the City for all their work on this forward thinking, people centered design. And thanks, too, to the people who continue to advocate for complete streets in Central Florida.
